Die Handlung der Serie dreht sich um ein Team von Wissenschaftlern des amerikanischen CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, deutsch Zentrum für Seuchenbekämpfung), das zu einer Hightech-Forschungseinrichtung der Firma Arctic BioSystems in der Arktis reist, um den potenziellen Ausbruch einer Seuche zu untersuchen.

A team of scientists are thrust into a potentially life-or-death situation after being deployed to the Arctic to secretly investigate what could be a disease outbreak.
Dr. Alan Farragut and his team work to treat the outbreak patients and contain the virus, while at the same time a rebellion erupts at the Arctic Biosystems base.
The team have every hope that the virus is contained, but unfortunately it continues to spread at an alarming rate; at the same time, some of the secrets the docs are keeping prove to be deadly.
Alan and the team deal with secrets and suspicion as the crisis heightens and deadly consequences follow. Meanwhile, Walker tries to survive on Level R.
Members of the CDC team come to the realization that nobody is who they seem to be at the base.
Alan and Jordan make progress in decoding the virus; Hatake secretly "cures" Walker before the corporation's black helicopters land on the base.
Daniel makes a discovery; Hatake protects Walker from Sutton's mercenaries.
The vectors attack and take Peter's body; Walker is held prisoner by Sutton after the true nature of Sutton's relationship with Hatake is revealed.
Secrets come to the light and unlikely alliances are established; at the same time, Alan and Walker take on a dangerous mission to destroy what's left of the NARVIK virus.
Alan and Julia travel to an abandoned satellite station in a last-ditch effort to call for help. Once there, they come across the truth behind Hatake's plan and Julia's condition. Meanwhile, Dr. Jordan makes a startling discovery of her own, which could mean a cure for cancer.
Peter leads the Vectors in a desperate final attempt to spread the virus, while the CDC scientists work together and successfully create a cure just as their lives come under threat from Ilaria Corporation's deadly mercenaries.
Alan, Walker, Hatake and Daniel set a trap for an assassin who has been sent by Ilaria to retrieve both the virus and the cure.
In the Season 1 finale, Alan and Walker battle the Scythe to save the world from disaster.
In the second-season premiere, Drs. Peter Farragut and Sarah Jordan are joined by Kyle Sommer when they battle a new deadly virus on a mysterious wooded island.
The CDC team continue to investigate the island; at the same time, they discover Peter's brother, Alan, is a member of Brother Michael's cult, and his warnings for them to leave the abbey fall on deaf ears.
Jordan and Peter travel outside the safety of the abbey to retrieve some specimens and discover just what's living in the woods; at the same time, Sister Amy plots to make the CDC team leave forever.
Michael struggles to keep the abbey under control as the CDC team move closer toward tracking the source of the pathogen; at the same time, Alan fights the urge to rejoin his former colleagues and comes to terms with the reality about Peter's allegiances. In the future, Walker takes a risk attempting to escape her delusional father.
Peter reveals is brother's secret and gets them both in trouble; at the same time, Kyle has his hands full trying to quarantine the orchard and the infected hive.
The CDC team are forced to work together when another outbreak threatens to overwhelm the Abbey.
Things go from bad to worse on the island. Elsewhere, Walker decides to go to St. Germain after learning about Brother Michael.
Sister Amy makes a power play for control of the Abbey as Alan and Kyle discover a possible cure for the virus.

Kyle and Jordan attempt to flee the island, but their escape is made more difficult by the followers who are hunting them down; Walker and Alan plan to halt ILARIA's deadly plan as soon as they find the Mother Tree.
In the Season 2 finale, Alan's relationship with Walker reaches a bloody climax, while his sibling feud with Peter erupts in flames. Elsewhere, Kyle does his best to protect a possible cure for the mycosis.
